PREVIOUS CAMPAIGNS

Since the 2020 inaugural campaign, the 11 Days in Haiti Campaign has become an annual event with the aim of continuing to share Haiti's story, commemorate the last High Hopes for Haiti volunteer trip, and support the work of the Mortel High Hopes for Haiti Foundation. Each year, our campaigns revolve around a new goal or focus. Find out about previous years' campaigns below.

2021 CAMPAIGN

On July 7, 2021, we woke up to the news: Haitian President Jovenel Moïse had been assassinated sending shockwaves through Haiti and the world. The assassination came in the wake of a new wave of COVID-19 and on the heels of many months of escalating gang violence that had resulted in thousands of Haitians being displaced from their homes.

The news was particularly striking to our group, as it came on the 3 year anniversary of when the riots that trapped us in Haiti in 2018 began. In response to these events, the 2021 campaign placed emphasis on spreading awareness of the events occurring and of the decades of difficulty and strife Haitians have endured.

2020 CAMPAIGN

The inaugural 11 Days in Haiti campaign launched on July 11, 2020. As the world was facing the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2018 volunteer group recognized Haiti's exacerbated need for COVID-19 sanitation equipment. The campaign raised funds for that equipment as well as commemorated what is expected to be the last High Hopes for Haiti volunteer trip for the foreseeable future.

Thanks to your support, the campaign was a tremendous success. Our blogs collectively garnered over 800 views, and we raised more than $4,000 with 100% going to the Mortel High Hopes for Haiti Foundation. The funds were used to build hand washing stations and buy masks and temperature guns, allowing for a safe return to school.
